Crowded on a Wed night, ribeye was juicy though it bit overcooked since I asked for medium.  Still prefer Ruth's Chris, followed by Mastros, Flemings, then dead last would be Morton's.  I would actually go to Outback over Morton's.

Looks good.  I agree, RC then Mastros...

Use the kitchen?? No way!! If I cook, it'll just stink up our great room  :P

I thought Mastros was pretty good but it has been a long time since going to Ruth Chris. What makes RC even better?

LOL! My wife felt embarrassed she needed to ask for a light to read the menu.

But seriously is there much difference in the quality of the cooking or steaks?

I would think price wise Mastros $$> Ruth's Chris $.  Meat wise, they both have the sizzling butter plate, Mastros might have better sides (truffle mash?), and meat quality seems the same.  Ruth's Chris has a couple's special usually and participates in restaurant week for a even better price.  Parking better at Ruth's Chris, at Mastros it's a long walk past TGIF if you're too cheap for valet (they do give free water!).  We only go to Mastros if splitting the bill or someone else's treat.  Corkage fee at Ruth's chris usually waived if someone's birthday.

I only say RC>Mastros because I have friends at RC lol.  But if you want a great experience the atmosphere at Mastros is better.

The cuts of meats are technically the same unless you get the Kobe Wagyu which I really recommend trying at Mastros.  That's it, I'm going to Ruth Chris tomorrow! PS9, IHO, dinner date? :)

Try Flemings on Sundays for the Prime Rib special w/3 sauces.

Ruth's Chris quality is acceptable, located in Irvine, and they don't skimp on the serving size (for better or worse).

If you want to take a date and splurge a little, try Park Avenue in Stanton and go for a walk around the gardens.  Um, secret restaurant "Il Garage" behind the gardens.  ;p  Call head for reservations, live music may be avail on certain days.

Not far from Park Ave, Golden Steer serves reasonably priced Prime Rib on Fri - Sun.  Quality is hit or miss however.http://www.goldensteer.com/

If you have an iPhone, get the app "Lumin".  It is perfect for wanting to read in the dark and/or reading small print.

I had some kansas city steak at Mastros and it was dry and hard...really bad...but I think it was my fault for ordering that.

Got an Amex $40 gift card in the mail to Flemings, for dinner service and no minimum purchase req'd.. should get about a free steak.  Is business so bad they have to give away steaks?  Got a $50 one for Capital Grille a month ago.

Got the Tomahawk chop for two at Flemings $94.  Too bad we don't have a dog, that bone would be mighty tasty.  So with two $50 Costco gift cards, the steak was more around $75 (cost of gift cards).  It was a wet aged bone in ribeye.  We asked for medium but it was more medium well, a good portion of the meat was overcooked.  Also the waiter claimed this can feed three, it was just right for the two of us plus a kid.  Not 100% full but that's probably good eating this kind of food.

We'll probably stick with the dry aged steaks next time, had a better experience with those.  Kids meal was $15 for celery/carrots/apples appetizer, spaghetti, juice, and an ice cream for $1 more.  Weird the spaghetti was very peppery spicy, kid didn't touch it, but ate my steak instead  >:(
