I'm struggling to retain my sanity until the last day of school on June 25. This is a thread to vent parent frustrations for the next 6 or so weeks.

I just went and created this E-card. Using someecards is a way for me to keep myself laughing instead of crying. I'm sure many parents can relate.

No cafeteria food?  I still crave my elementary schools hamburger, soggy fries, and chocolate milk.  No gets that processed food taste down like school cafeterias.  Loved the beef stroganoff as well, so hot it melts the styrofoam cup.

It's funny because my one kid will only eat one thing... for the entire school year.

I can't fathom going through school like that, I pack the same exact thing every day but it makes it really easy for me.

But I can imagine for SoCal it's much harder, she probably does 5-course meals and includes real linen napkins and silverware. :)

what is the meal? PB&J?
It's even easier, it's a Lunchables item (I would say which one but someone might figure out where I live).

I put other things in there like yogurt, fruits, chips and drinks but for the main thing, it's always that.

I have to buy 5 at a time, and sometimes the grocery store doesn't have that many and I have to go to another one or a Target.

Nope. They both say they only want my lunches. My youngest has never had a cafeteria lunch in his life, doesn't even want to try them (I count my blessings that he feels that way). My eldest has tried it a few years ago and says he likes mine better, begs me to keep packing the stuff I make. However, I have succumbed to these about once a week recently even though they don't love them because I'm just out of steam at this point --

Your kid and I could be best friends. I can eat the same meal for months on end without getting tired of it

Wait, I know this one. Somewhere in the foggy recesses of my brain.... It's a Del Taco meal?... argh. The number escapes me. I think it's a burrito combo.

Tip: Go to the register or customer service desk. Fill out their Special Order form with the item, qty., and your contact info. They will have exactly what you need, packaged up, and set aside especially for you. They will give you a call when it's ready. When you're ready to pay, you just go directly to check-out and they'll usually call it up for you. I've done this many times. I hope this helps.

The answer is even easier:

Day 1: qwerger
Day 2: qwerger
Day 3: qwerger
Day 4... QED

If you count burgers from different places then I think I've eaten the same meal for like 20 years straight

Hey, not true!!!

This doesn't even begin to mention the long, white, tapered candles and hors d'oeuvres hand-crafted and packaged daily into the race car lunchbox by yours truly.

J/k! You are pretty much on the money. Cooking & baking, creating beautiful and delicious meals has been my passion for many years! But I'm fairly casual as far as lunches go. I have sent them to school with silverware but stopped doing that when they were accidentally throwing them away & not bringing them back. We do use plastic now. I'd say my lunches are normal by my standards but when I look around at the other kids lunches when I help out every week, I sometimes notice it may not be normal in other households.

Here is one weird example:

This one kid has a HUGE bag of goldfish crackers. His lazy mother packs his lunch only once at the beginning of the week / bi-weekly / etc. and not again until it's gone. He eats out of the same bag every day and he eats with no portion control, no balance. Just reckless abandon. For a split second the first time I picked up on what she was doing, purely for the sake of convenience, I was like, "Heyyyy, why didn't I think of that?!" until I snapped out of it, of course.

Aww, I've been too busy, gone too long and have missed all the inside jokes. I don't know what a Qwerger is much less a QED - I'll guess the QE portion stands for quantitative easing. D may be diet. An expensive hamburger.

qwerger = qwerty burger

QED = quod erat demonstrandum - "which had to be demonstrated" when you solved a math problem and showed enough work to demonstrate how you got the answer, you would end it with "QED"

Dear Diary,

It is painful seeing Facebook friends' celebrations splashed across my news feed, the last day of school and the arrival of summer vacation, knowing we still have weeks to go yet.

However, I feel slightly soothed when they begin complaining that their kids are fighting, making messes at home, and getting bored out of their minds already.
