My Kiwi VP fell in love with my actual clock and passed in on to the next VP when he left to company. I meant to replace it, but didn't, so figured there had to be an online one where I could see the last seconds of the last 8 year nightmare tick away. Sure enough.... I"m sleeping in my "A village in Texas has lost its idiot T-shirt tonight.... champagne again tomorrow at 9:00 am? Nah, can't have a mimosa on a tues.

[quote author="tmare" date=1232457035]Cheers! And I can drink anything I want on Tuesday night, I'm in the mood for some Dom.</blockquote>

A tues night yeah, but technically this would be a 9:00 am mimosa.... got a lunch meeting with a client at 11:30, so thinking I really can't do it :) However, after that I'm going to party like its 1999... Bring it on! Competence, yeah! Thoughtfulness, yeah! I just feel that we actually have a decent shovel to start digging ourselves out of this monumental hole. I'm psyhced.... will be interesting to see what the crazy markets do tomorrow. Anyway, I just feel a huge sigh of relief that this administration is on its way out and a lite version of it is not on its way in.

Feeling the same. Of course, even the mimosa is out of the question for me also (teacher). I have to pretend I'm watching it in real time with my champagne in hand! BTW, you beat me to this thread, you titled it better than I would have anyway.

See ya Shrub !

And since I appear to be pileing on...

I went to dinner with Mrs. Vas on Sunday night. I had no less than three NPR "Driveway Moments". This was the best one.

Nixon was my favorite president because, among other things, I appreciate that the Huburis led him to lie, cheat, and steal in an effort to hide it. 43 didn't have the courtesy to us to hide it and just did it in plain sight. History will ultimately decide if it's sour grapes on my part, or he was a piece of shit - exactly the way W wanted it.

Except possibly he didn't have the intelligence to hide it. The article is a great, succinct review of a failed presidency.

Yeah, but the economist endorsed him in 2000 and supported way too much of his crap through late '04. It wasn't until the tide had really turned that they got cold on this goon. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are so pro Obama hope change. Sometimes I think this supposedly objective rag just goes with the way the wind blows.

Possibly, but I prefer to be encouraged by those who look at the facts and are willing to change their mind. I have a few relatives who could learn something from this. Stubborn refusal in spite of all facts is not very attractive.

They have been keeping the "Free Market" flame for as long as I have been paying attention. I think they were disheartened by what they expeceted as opposed to what they recieved from 43.

I asked a buddy of mine yesterday (a die hard Republican) what opinion he had of the Economist. He replied:

<blockquote>It's a liberal, maybe center left, fringe publication.</blockquote>

That river of Denial runs deep and fast, apparently.

<a href="http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Inauguration/story?id=6665946&page=1">Inauguration Price Tag</a>

If this was Bush spending this much money on an inauguration with the economy in the toilet what would people say.

I know what past presidents spent so don't justify it with that.

Obama promised Change this would have been a good start. What sickens me is some Wall Street Bail out execs put up some cash for Obama.

Special interest's????? Conflict of interest????

<blockquote>The biggest group of donors were none other than the recently bailed-out Wall Street executives and employees.

"The finance sector is well represented, despite its recent troubles," Ritsch said. "Those who worked in finance still managed to pull together nearly $7 million for the inauguration."

The donors will get some of the best seats in the house for the inauguration, as well as admittance to some of the best balls and other events.

</blockquote>

Well, the inauguration coverage is pretty boring right now, but I did manage to catch Bush getting on a helicopter and waving goodbye.

Why did it have to be too early for a drinking game?

I have been waiting for this day for 8 years.

GW Bush is finally out of office. Thank god its over.

You new something was "going wrong" when the crowd threw

eggs at Bush in 2001 at his inaugural parade.

Dont think thats going to happen today.

Good luck to President Obama.

So the justification is here is what Bush spent. I knew there would be a justification that had nothing to do with today.

Obama promised CHANGE. <blockquote>1 a: to make different in some particular : alter <never bothered to change the will> b: to make radically different : transform <can't change human nature> c: to give a different position, course, or direction to</blockquote> From Websters.

How is doing what others have done Change? How can Obama even accept donations from the same people we, the American Taxpayer are bailing out?

I have a feeling that discussing Obama with his faithful followers will be futile. They will just keep pointing in every direction and making excuses. I know what Obama is doing but Bush did too.

Wash-rinse-repeat.

That is not change that is the same.

I want change, I really do. I don't see taking 7 million from Bail Out Benefactors as a change for the positive.

When can we actually judge Obama by his actions without justifying it by what others have done?

You mean when is it PC for YOU to Judge Obama ?

Lets see. He has been President all of 3 Hours now.

You think we should maybe give him a little more time in office ?

How about a 90 day Honeymoon ?

I was watching his depature in the helicopter, and kept wondering what it must have felt like to rise up over Washington and the last visual you have as you gaze over the city is about 1.5 million middle finger salutes...

Although I will give Bush credit, he did seem to handle the transition with grace and dignity. That alone might go a little way to repair his legacy.

No Obama has been POTUS since November 4th. He has been actively pushing for policy since he won the election.

Today is day one to hear that Bail out recepients donated 7 million and get invited to special events is not a change for the better.

Are you happy to hear that.

Kinda makes me question why Obama kept pushing to fast track the second installment of TARP.
