Shaved Prime Steak Sandwich
Horseradish Sauce, Au Jus, Frites, Pickle

One of the better steak sandwiches I've had in awhile.  At $17, it ain't cheap but it's quality.  Alternate dipping in horseradish and au jus changes the taste profile.  Also got the Kale & Brussels Sprouts w/Chicken salad (Roasted Marcona Almonds, Dried Cranberries, Orange Segments, Shaved Manchego, Creole Mustard Vinaigrette).  Reminds me of the China Coast Salad at Islands but not as rich and no disgusting water chestnuts.  A salad to remember and that's pretty unique in my dining experience.  I believe the almonds made the difference.

So this place is fairly new.  Located at the Spectrum next to Tuscan Grille, across from Yardhouse.  Recommend parking across the street at the new parking structure (you'll see guys waving light batons to tell you to park).  It was one of the easiest parking experience at the always horrible Spectrum parking situation.  I don't know if this place will survive, Sunday night dining was pretty empty.  Probably have a robust lunch crowd with all the businesses in the area.  Restaurant is nice, has outdoor seating and can accomodate large parties.  We got the half circle red booths near the bar, it was cozy.  If you have an AMEX card, check your reward offers, there is a promo for $15 off $50 purchase untill March.

Also noticed the place was empty when I went. I was all excited when I heard this was opening because we always go to Del Frisco's Double Eagle when we hit Vegas. But for some reason, ribeyes just didn't taste as good. Reviews of the Irvine location compared to Vegas one on Yelp confirm. Will still stick to Ruth's Chris, my favorite steakhouse.

Not really into steak right now, had a bad experience at Mastro's recently and don't have a taste for thick steaks.  Sometimes the simple things on the menu give a better dining experience.  Learned to never order any type of bone in steaks, especially ribeye.  Takes a skilled chef to cook that well, usually end up with burnt ends and raw meat near the bone.  Del Frisco's steaks are up there in price, I believe almost fifty for a ribeye.  We were not that hungry so opted for the smaller stuff, glad we did.

If we do steaks again, it will be Flemings or Ruth's Chris, but not for awhile.

sometimes i get tempted to go to mastros to eat the bread and order sweet potato fries and creamed corn and no entree. figured they may give me a bad look though.

That's the wife move. Husband orders steak. Wife gorges on bread and sides.

Don't worry, I've gone with my wife to Ruth's Chris several times and we order one ribeye to split, no sides, no desert and just water. Ends up being about $25 per person which is great compared to if we went to some lesser restaurant and each ordered are own thing.

That's still $30 just for fries and corn, I'm sure they don't mind.

Went to Tuscan Grill next to Del Fresco's (what's with all the "Grills"?).

It was also not very crowded.

How was Tuscan?  Yeah, I agree, having two restaurants with the word Grille in it is kinda weird.  Location wise, these two grills are kinda on their own.  They are off the main walk path of regular Spectrum patrons.  The Nordstrom lot is not that friendly to park and valet means you still have to walk a fair distance to the restaurants, so what's the point of valet?

Isn't the actual name Brio?  I used to eat at their atlanta location back in the day for work. Thought it was pretty good. I've seen them in the south and midwest.

Yeah... Brio Tuscan Grille.

We went there for their breakfast menu (although I think I ended up getting a pasta dish).

It was okay. Reminded me a bit of Macaroni Grill (yet another Grill).
