Day Trip Recommendation

Got family in town and they want to go on a local day trip. Would you guys recommend Palm Springs, Catalina, San Diego, or any other places?
 
Catalina if they don't get seasick. Leave out of Newport/Balboa (if they still do) and get back early and check out the peninsula.
 
Take the MetroLink to DTLA, then the subway to Universal CityWalk. Try IFly Hollywood a couple of times, eat at one of the better places, then go back. No cars, something unique to do. Lot's of fun.
 
Lunch at the Biltmore, walk around State street commercial zone, take a drive to Montecito, and stop at San Ysidro Ranch for dinner before heading back home.

If they're from inland areas, you can take them to Laguna Beach. It's fairly close and nice to walk around, considering recent temp.
