Cleaning Service before new home move-in

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Hi Folks,

I am closing on my new home soon and I was wondering about the condition a new home when I get the keys. Do builders do a deep clean before they deliver or is it recommended that the buyer do a thorough clean before moving in? The builder is Standard Pacific if that matters.

What has been your experience and what did you do?

Any good cleaning service in Irvine that you recommend?

Thanks for your help.

You're gonna make a mess when you move in so I would get it cleaned after you've unpacked everything.  In general, a new house will be very clean so I wouldn't worry about it.  Most likely, you'll scratch and possibly dent some of the walls on move in, the builder will come in afterward to retouch all the scratches.

my homes carpet and windows were pretty clean when i got my keys... the tile floors were fairly clean but a bit dusty (including the bathroom) but i think this is pretty normal since the home is still settling into the foundations which causes small bits of paint/grout to flake off here and there...

id just vacuum the carpets again (actually i think ur supposed to vacuum new carpet very often during the initial days... they say it helps preventing it from matting down too fast and stays fluffy for longer or something) and do a brief mop up on any tiles/wood... ull notice paint chips and little bits for the first 3 months (happened to me in my sisters new condo in los angeles and again in my home in irvine), and then itll just stop once the foundation is settled and ur walls n stuff stop shifting around...

ocgasman is absolutely correct... no point right now... do it later once all ur furniture is in

Congratulations on your purchase...

I'll throw my vote in for cleaning before putting everything in the home.
(And then again after your furniture is in.)

Even though my mom is semi-retired, she has done a lot of pre move-in house cleanings for my buyers (she has OCD when it comes to cleaning).  Let me know if you want her contact info.

thanks trojan.. I will email you for info

My parents have moved into a brand new home twice, we've moved into one once.

All 3 times, I don't remember the homes needing cleaning prior to move-in.

Don't know how it is nowadays... maybe TIC charges for in the design center? Has anyone bought the "Move-In Cleaning Package?" :)

dude... the "EXTRA DELUXE move-in cleaning package" cost 8000 USD... screw that... i opted for the "thats what gfs are for" package...

A new home experience is not complete without a 'construction clean' package. Just pay your regular cleaner twice their normal rate. They do the same job and you feel like a million bucks.

We use Lorena Cleaning Service (714 650 4523). Let Lorena give you a quote and you will see the difference.
