Two small lobsters for $16 (got house special flavor)

Braised yee fu noodles

Chicken lettuce cups

Been coming here for ages.. always liked the dimsum.. shiu mai is good.. har gow is good... nothing else matters right?  Kid asked for lobster after school (really?  this child is gonna be spoiled).. So they have this lobster special.. two small lobsters for $16 dine in only.. you can get it house special as pictured above or the ginger and scallion.. House special is peppery and buttery so I would recommend that over the other.  The yee fu noodle was ok, a little bland but pairs well with the lobster (there's actually a lobster/yee fu noodle combo dish for $10, but only during lunch weekdays).  I would now like to declare the best chicken lettuce cups in town.. China Garden to me wins hands down.. I don't even need the lettuce cups or the sauce.. a tub of rice with that tasty roasty diced chicken with the crispy noodles.. i'm in heaven.. They need to start a chicken lettuce cup taco truck.. Seriously...I'll be there.

I've been eating Chinese food in Irvine for years now and have never been to China Garden.  Maybe I'll have to make the trip one day for dinner. My dim sum trips are usually reserved for Sea Harbour in Rosemead.  :-*

The line for dim sum on Sundays is ridiculous.  I would rather call in for pick up and eat at home.  Their dim sum is good and reliable.  At this point I would rather go to Capitol Seafood at Spectrum for dim sum for less of a wait, but that place is getting crowded too.  Capitol is pretty damn expensive for dinner tho.

They used to push around the dim sum carts every day, but a little while back they switched to an order slip system on weekdays. I went the week after the switch and the staff was in some disarray, so much of the dim sum arrived cold. Have only been back once on a Saturday since, so not sure what the weekday situation is now.

This dim sum restaurant is filthy to say the least!

Yummy!  I hope that statement has the same meaning as I hope and expect.  (I love dirty hole in the wall restaurants.)
