Never had venison or veal but I have a few recipes for lamb that I love. When it gets warmer, we're bbqing some lamb chops marinated in wine, spices and honey.
Never liked any sandwich on regular store bought bread unless it had the end on one or both sides and then they were "tolerable". If faced with something saucy, I will scrape it all off or skip it. Hate cream soups and anything that smells fishy.
Some things I just don't think there are good renditions of. The crunchy sound of the sardine bones being crushed as they're chewed & watching them look back at me with those glossy dead eyeballs. *Shivers* Is there a good rendition of that? I guess venison without the buckshot in it is a better rendition, though.
I still like the horseradish and rye bread (goes with liverwurst). I buy those & sometimes I bake rye but my kids won't eat it 'cause they're spoiled. I'll never forget the smell & texture of liverwurst. I don't buy it, that is, if they even sell it anymore.
When I was a kid, I hated the big thick burgers nicely seared on the outside and juicy on the inside with chopped onions mixed inside the patty that my mom used to make because I thought the proper hamburger was the thin, grey, hard, tasteless patties that they sell at McDonalds. I used to be embarrassed by my mom's burgers because they didn't look like McDonalds which as a 7 year old, I thought was the epitome of fine dining. Now I realize McDonalds is shit.
When my youngest daughter's turn came up to bring snack for girl scouts I baked her cupcakes and she flat out told me it was forbidden to have anything home made and I would absolutely have to buy cookies, cupcakes, chips or whatever but NEVER anything home made (this was probably 20 years or so ago) because you know I could be poisoning everyone. LOL!
So off we went with the home made cupcakes and she was pretty much horrified to have something not store bought for snack. Apparently the other kids knew of no such "rule" and woofed them down and asked how her mom knew how to make cupcakes and would she bring more and teach their moms!
She's a teacher now and makes sure she bakes her own cupcakes for special parties for the kids......... Never store bought cuz that is just gross she says. LOL!
