I'm going to be moving back out to Orange County shortly (currenly in PA) and I'm trying to look for reasonable rents. It seems like the rents in Irvine have gone up around 22% since I was their 5 years ago (At least from the IAC offerings). Anyhow, I like Irvine but I'm open to any place in south orange county. So, I'm curious which areas have the best offerings right now. I've looked around at craigslist, but I really don't know how trustworthy that information is.

tyler,

Rental rate is a function of building age and school rating. In Irvine, there are old homes SFS going for $2,400/month (3 bedrooms). Newer construction would run $3,200.

Rents are cheaper in area such as Anaheim and Placentia.

South county will save you about $100 - $300.
