I am throwing my one year old a casual, backyard birthday party (mostly adults).  Can anyone recommend tasty and relatively cheap catering/take out for about 30 people?  I don't mean tablecloths and buffet dishes, I mean cheap aluminum pans and plastic tubs.  I was thinking tacos, but I'm open to suggestion.

Thanks in advance!

I normally use the Taco Man for throwing Taco Parties for my family.  I think they need a minimum of 50 people but you could call and ask.  Really professional, sets up and cleans up quickly.

If you are looking to feed 30 people, why don't you just cater Chinese food from Sam Woo BBQ Express or maybe even the Donut Star on Harbor/Warner  :D?

Pat and Oscars, the irvine location closed but the one by south coast plaza is open. Also, Lucilles BBQ at the District, that is probably a bit more pricier though.

mmmmm Lucilles mmmmmm

This might hurt Homer's man parts... but I found Panda Express to be okay food on the cheap.

You can also buy really inexpensive food warmers at Smart and Final (the wire kind that holds the Sterno and a tray of water to keep the food warm).

I've also got Hawaiian food from Nalu's in Quail Hill (L&L also caters).

But now that there is a TI to Donut Star/Wok Express connection... you may want to look into that.

As far as I know, there's usually a minimum of 50 for most catering, if not more and the price per person may still be unappealing at that rate. For a baby's party, I'd probably just grab some party platters at Costco to make it easy and bring 'em home myself.

Thank you for all the recommendations.  What is TI short for?

I'm going to keep the babies and kids inside and the adults outside.  They're just too messy.  ;-)
