Cameras need HOA approval?

From what I've read, yes you need approval for Cameras. I'm sure if neighbors sign a petition they can force you to take it down. Having neighbor issues?

Anyone have recommendations for surveillance camera installation in HOA?
HOA said they have to be "discrete" and approved by them.  Not sure what they mean by that.  Does it have to be a certain size profile or brand, etc.

Has anyone done this can give recommendations on who you used, what type of cameras, etc.
