Are any of you doing the mission project this year? We are.
This is the one parenting moment I was looking forward to for years since I had kids. I couldn't wait to get my hands on that mission and build it, hoping I get an A. It was such a fun experience for myself in elementary I was really looking forward to it. Little did I know it's not assigned. It's extra credit. Only a report on the mission is required. The teacher said she wanted to get away from parents building the mission for their kids. What??? *Feigned shock*. Who would do such a thing? Erm. Certainly not moi!
We have Mission Santa Ines. I had my son pick this one so we could follow up with a trip to visit it soon and go to Solvang so he can see / touch / feel all the things he's learning on paper.
The kids are SO LUCKY these days. They can do all their research on the internet. No trips to the library necessary. Michael's even carries mission kits to help you build one. They didn't have any of that when I was in school. Needless to say we'll be doing the extra credit. I already have the stained glass windows picked out (hint: Brach's candy wrappers!)
