I was also told at our last union meeting that schools have only been guaranteed enough money to fund one more paycheck (monthly) to their staffs. Schools are scrambling to make sure that can use and have enough money in reserves to finish out the school year's obligations. It is virtually certain that most school districts will forgo summer school this year also.

"$300 million in cash grants for needy families and the aged, blind and disabled." Nice, backdoor the people who really need it.

My wife has gotten her W2, now if I can get mine on our online payroll system.....then again, even if I got it in Monday, it probably will take the state longer to process than 2 weeks!!!

Schwarzenegger said. "The $42-billion deficit is a rock upon our chest, that we cannot breathe until we get it off. It doesn't make any sense for me to . . . stand in front of you and talk about education or infrastructure, or water, or healthcare reform and all those things when we have this huge budget deficit." Budget Dominates State of the State Address

Frankly, I don't think it's a rock, it 30 years of neglect, boozing, smoking and living on deep fried pork bellies of spending and tax policy.

I usually always make it such that we have to pay a small amount, $500-1,000, to both Fed and CA. For 2008, I think I owe CA around $1500. I'm planning on sending them an IOU.

I think you are joking, but just in case you aren't, or if somone else has the same idea, which I am sure many of us do, my advice is don't.

California Franchise Tax Board is nastier than the IRS.

Not sure how it worked out for this guy.....

I'm afraid of nothing except my wife, God, and the California Franchise Tax Board, not necessarily in that order. This is good advice.

I am one of the lucky few to have been visited by the FTB with regards to a delinquent corporate return. No calls, no warnings, just showed up at the office one day. It was not a very pleasent experience. I wouldn't dream of messing with them again.
