greetings -

i just signed a 1yr lease at Ave One (details if anyone is curious: 1br 1ba 750sq ft for 1350/mo) and I am in the process of setting up tv and internet before move-in. I signed up with Cox online, and they just sent me a notification that it is a "brand new complex for Cox service" [so i need a professional $80 instal instead of the cheaper DIY one]. it seemed odd because the complex is at least 3 years old... and i thought cox was the standard irvine carrier :p

i was wondering, does anyone live/have lived in this building (or neighboring), and what internet/tv provider do you use?

thanks in advance!

Not sure about Watermarke and The Plaza, but originally Ave One had an exclusive with AT&T Home Entertainment. Enough of the owners/occupants complained so the board eventually opened access to Cox.

I don't remember having to pay an installation fee. Try calling to get that fee waived.

i rent in ave 1; when i initially set up the cable with cox, i took home the diy kit(modem and coax cable).. they told me that they would send someone to the buildings cox cable control panel or something, which only they had a key for, to enable the service to my unit.. paid for the kit, which was 80 bux, not for the guy to come out to the building..

actually i guess that amounts to the same thing.. 80 bux includes the kit and for a guy who has to come to the building..

i've had cox for 8 or 9 years now but have moved several times. I dont think i've ever had to pay for installation. Just threaten to go to satellite TV (directv or DISH) if they dont waive it for you

thanks for the responses. I called them after work and the CSR said i could use the DIY kit. :) Hope they do that keybox thing too.

How do you guys like living there? How is guest parking?

overall i like living here.. im on the third floor, its pretty quiet.. i havent encountered loud music, barking dogs, etc.. walking to the mailbox feels far, but at least its good to get in some after dinner exercise.. guest parking i think is horrible tho... have to go all the way up to the fifth or sixth level..the elevator only goes to the 4th floor of units.. some doors are locked from one side, while other doors are locked from the otherside, and the community key i got doesnt work on all of them.. so id end up walking my guests thru a semi-maze..
