Built in Speakers or After Market?

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Many new builders are now including built-in surround speakers in the family room as an option.

Do you guys know if it is better to go with the builder or after market? I know there is the "it depends" factor, but in general, are these speakers by the builder of decent quality for the price, or is it better to go after market since you can get even better quality for BUILT-IN speakers for a better price?

If you decide to go with after-market, but really want this feature, make sure to request "pre-wiring". This will simplify the process a lot.

Builders will throw in so many upgrades for free now, maybe it just makes sense to go stock for now and then upgrade later.

Yeah, Soul Brother... Eazy was da man!

Go for the pre-wire and get the speakers yourself afterward. It's relatively cheap for the pre-wire to be done before the drywall goes up. A major pain afterwards. You can get speakers retail or on the web for a much better price. They are very easy to install typically...
