Blackouts

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I just had a brief one around 6:45. It was more like a severe brown out. The power didn't fully go off, but it lost about 80% of its strength on 2 or 3 occasions during a 5 minute span.

Around 4:30pm I was returning from a Labor Day BBQ driving West-to-East on Culver and I saw 3 traffic lights not working or (red lights blinking) and stop signs were on the streets: Culver and Irvine Center Drive, Culver and Walnut and Culver and Bryan, if I remember correctly.

The traffic was chaotic, hopefully is fixed if not avoid Culver.

We left home for a cooler locale with something other than flashlights or candles for light. Our whole village had no power. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.

Ours (San Marino between Paseo Westpark and Harvard) was out from about 7:30pm - 8:00pm. But I won't complain after spending the day Sunday at in-laws in Porter Ranch (San Fernando Valley). It was 110 out there! Heard that some people in Studio City had been without power for 4 days....Ah, the LA DWP....

Our power went out about 3:45pm, was out until about 4:45pm, then backup and down again about 5pm, just came back on again about 9:05pm. Our place is still cooling down. This is west of Culver West Irvine area.

Same exact situation as mediaboyz here.

I call SCE and they don't have ANYTHING to say about it. "We're looking into it" was the only status they provided.

Parts of turtle rock and University area have no power, since last night about 8pm. SCE says Tuesday afternoon/evening Wednesday morning.

Ugh. I feel for you. It was rather inconvenient for the nearly 6 hours ours was out. Overnight would have been a killer, though, as it was too hot for me to sleep.** And now you're at the point where you'll have to inspect everything in the refrigerator.

**What is going on with Prado at Portola Springs? This is the exact situation where a sleeping porch would be useful.

My new neighbor works for Pardee, and said they are still in the Prado project.

There have been 3 days of intermittent power outages... sunday was at least 4 hrs, Monday was at least 6 hrs, and Tuesday was about 4 hrs. I'm in Northwood.

Woke up Sunday morning because my fan stopped working and it got friggen hot. Jumped into my car, drove to the office, turned on AC to full blast, and went back to sleep on the couch :)

SCE sucks.

I was posting about ghosts on another forum. And the lights started to flicker on and off. Scared the cr*p out of me.

Hahahah. I am not kidding either. You can see that posting in "Why should feng shui be consider."........We're talking about ghosts......and I said, "Hey was there a power grid breakdown? Cause the lights flickered.".....

Of course, no one responded. That made me even more nervous. Cause if there's no power failure. Why the heck did the lights went on and off.....ahhhh!

From the Register:

This is really scary - what does it say about the future of California?
