Not sure who 247wallst.com is but this year, Irvine got "Best Run City":

1. Irvine, California
> Population: 230,000 (86th largest)
> Credit rating: not rated
> Violent crime per 100,000: 51 (the lowest)
> 2012 Unemployment rate: 5.7% (tied-10th lowest)

Irvine has a very well-educated population. Last year, 97% of Irvine adults had at least a high school diploma, and more than two-thirds had at least a bachelor?s degree. The city is home of the University of California, Irvine, which is the top local employer. The heavy concentration of well-educated adults has also led to higher incomes. Irvine?s median household income was around $96,000 last year, exceeding that of nearly every other large city. The typical Irvine home cost about $630,400 last year, more than any other large U.S. city except San Francisco. The city was also one of the safest in the nation, with only 51 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

The worst run? San Bernadino. Heh... less than an hour's drive separates the two.

I bet the great park will be just as good as Central Park without the Harlem adjacency. I love it when politicians compare it with the most iconic park in America. Most New Yorkers have no idea where Irvine is and kept spelling it Irving.

An excellent idea with a balloonful of hot air is off to a great start! Frederic died from alcoholism and Alzheimer. His legacy is America's very best. Are you familiar with Prospect Park across the East River or Riverside Park in Chicago? Way over on the West Coast he did Golden Gate and consulted briefly on the Griffith Park open space reserve just before he died. His son Olmstead Junior made his home in PV and worked on numerous local projects.

Fredic Law Olmstead wouldn't fart in the direction of the great park if he was still around.

The city and Five Points have a long way to go with their execution of the park to compare it to one that was painstakingly planned and constructed.

With the watered down version on the books to be built now - i expect the final version to be comparable to the city run parks across Irvine.  No Tavern on the Green happening at the GP!

I wonder if Irvine voters now think the GP is going to be even remotely similar to what they 'voted' for; far more residential homes than originally mentioned, expensive document changes, etc. I'd like to think Irvine is as well run as this accolade indicates, but the evolution of the GP makes me wonder how much the title of 'best run' is deserved. And that's not even factoring in the misplaced comparisons to genuinely urban park masterpieces .
