I nominate the Togarashi Edamame at LDC...

followed by the house Ceviche, also at LDC... go curbside pick up..

paired with Ballast Point's double IPA Dorado...

always liked ceviche.. but afraid to try it at the hole in the wall taco places.. LDC.. feel much safer..

Fried chicken wings and kettle chips are my fave for beer food.

Could use a beer right now... Anyone else working on a Saturday morning?  >:(

this is real beer food - at JT Schmidts at the district - this should be the centerpiece of any TI gathering.

marinated triple combo at 101 Noodle Express (pic stolen from yelp)

green stuff = mustard green with beancurd and peanuts
brown stuff = pig ears with beancurd
black stuff = seaweed

My idea of beer food:  need a couple of brews to unwind from a rough work day, too hot/tired to eat/prep a full meal, just want to snack on savory foods that goes great with beer.

Yakitori chicken wings at Honda Ya.  Takes 30 freakin minutes and always the last to arrive.

Salt + wood charcoal + skilled yakitori chef = best damn wings ever tasted

Too bad my pitcher of ice cold Kirin is usually done by then.

I love Honda-Ya. Wish it wasn't so crowded otherwise I'd be there more often. Grilled onigiri rice balls for me.  :D

Wait is a bitch there.  We usually get there around 5:20 to guarantee a spot when they open.  They're not as efficient as Fukada and don't seat the entire restaurant right when it opens.  Here's a tip:

If you miss the opening bell and the list is way long, make sure you check bar seating.  The guy doing the list seats the bar last and around 6pm he will call out to people who checked bar.  And you will jump ahead of everyone else and get the stink eye from the crowd as you swagger into the restaurant.  If you don't mind the bar and for us it actually works out better with our little one sandwiched in the middle so we can take turns helping her eat.  But make sure it is the front bar, near the sushi chefs and not the rear bar seating near the yakitori chef, those are counter height and kills my lower back.

And skip the tatami room, stinky feet is a nasty buzz kill.  Hello fungus! (and yes they NEVER clean the restaurant, don't look around too much, you'll lose ur appetite)
