Went to the Asian Tapas restaurant last week. The inside is pretty casual with the entrance area occupied by a counter for ordering to go items and the back divided into a kitchen on one side and the dining area on the other separated by a glass wall.

We had the popcorn chicken (was really good), minced pork with marinated in wine (good), noodle soups (would have wanted some more complexity in flavors but still good). We also had a couple of additional appetizers and the bill was about $27.00 for 4 people sharing.

It was pretty crowded (almost a full house) and 90% of the patrons were asian. With reasonable prices and a variety of dishes to select from, I would go again.

I went to Asian Tapas shortly after it opened and I liked it. I want to go again soon to try out more things on the menu.

Looking through the menu, I think the owners are probably Taiwanese. I'll drop by some time and try their pork chop rice and spicy beef noodles.

We went during their happy hour a couple of weeks back. I thought it was really good, but my Taiwanese wife thought it was just ok. Kind of a cool little place IMO, with the kitchen totally open so you can watch them make the food and see the plating or packaging for take-out. Service was great....and the happy hour specials were good, too. Youngish college type crowd when we went, and TV's with games on.

I also heard (maybe on Yelp) that the owners here were the original owners of Tri-Village. Tri-Village is definitely our favorite Chinese restaurant in Irvine.

The "tapas" they serve are just Taiwanese style small side dishes.

If you want your spicy beef noodle made spicy with preserved veggies added, you need to ask for it. By default they don't put it in.

Their lunch special is, IMO, a very good deal.

Ok, so I went here again and was not as impressed.

I do really like their dumplings, pork buns, and green onion pancakes, and we got an eggplant dish that was ok. But I really didn't like the chow mein, and the misoyaki fish was not good at all - and very overpriced, IMO.

Don't know how I got on their email list.. but here it is..  3 dishes for $16.. they have specials for postpartum women.. nice

I don't even think they serve Tapas style anymore, it's just like a normal Chinese food entree type menu.

I assume by "Woobury Plaza" you mean Woodbury Town Center? Very annoying to have locations renamed to whatever suits you. Also, it's Woodbury, not Woobury.

Rant off.
