Asian Night Market (Pasadena)

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
The hip Chinese crowd does not have its own identity event. This is what this demographic has been hoping for. An event that approximate the night time culture of Hong Kong, Shanghai or Taipei. It is an opportunity for Chinese to share with their friends and significant other that this event is going so cool just like the everyday lifestyle of their homeland or their parents'. It is awesome and tasteful to have this venue in affluent Pasadena and not some dumpy Chinatowns among the FOB crowd. The website and PR were first class and drew a sizable crowd to cause freeway backup for 8 miles and city gridlock. Parking was not sufficient thus impacting local merchants' parking lots. It was a poorly executed event. Local city dwellers will definitely be filing traffic and trash complaints, and other nuisance caused by this event at City Hall Monday morning. There were no emergency, medical and evacuation plan to combat this type of crowd. It was literally 1sf per person where my crotch was rubbing the butt of the stranger in front of me.

It was not only a disaster but an over promised and under delivered event. I was hoping for a much more sophisticated venders with cultural attributes but rather it was just a cheesy swap meet and lack luster street food vendors. I never even got close enough to sniff the grease.

The Chinese consumers are hungry for their own unique cultural events. This venue had a lot of promises but its poor execution and limited venues left a bad taste in both consumers and the hosting city.

I have to say it was CRAP.  Way overcrowded and I was scared for my family's safety.  Car traffic and human traffic were horrendous.  Usually when you see this type of crowd, you would think it would be worth going, can't be more disappointed.  Not enough police or emergency crew present like IHS said, it would've been a stampede if somebody yelled bomb.

Lucky to find street parking, would've hate to pay for this crap.  I was worried about pick pockets..  And of course my phone couldn't get reception, everyone was on their phone.

I knew where to park being almost a native of Pasadena. This was a huge loss of opportunity to engage one of the largest ethnic consumer demographic successfully. It was a shame that the operation was the worst executed event that I have ever been to. Congratulation to Potty and Alturism that both are no longer at the bottom of my list.

I can't imagine driving to Pasadena to be in that.

I generally hate crowds, traffic, lines and looking for parking... which is why I tend to not go to LA.

Asians are hungry for nightlife in America. This event attracted Asians from far away such as San Diego's and San Jose's sleepy suburbs. This movement is only the tip of the iceberg that an all Asian late night mega entertainment venue greater than the scale of a stripmall will do very well in today's marketplace.

I don't mind the drive for something worth driving to, when I was little my family would drive to this AYCE hot pot place on Atlantic Ave in Monterey Park across from Duck Place.  About 40 minutes one way with about 9 people piled into an old Mercedes.  It was the trip back that was uncomfortable.  But the memory is still with me, so that makes it worth it for me.

I guess that's why driving for food for me is ok, I don't like to settle when it involves my belly.  I do agree the night market was a disaster, if I checked their Facebook page, I would've avoided all together.

The problem with driving far to eat... is what if the food doesn't agree with you? I'm one of those people who hate using public restrooms... so well... I think you get the picture.

When we had kids... it got worse, because we had no idea if they would get sick, if we didn't bring enough extra clothes for them etc etc... good thing I'm not too exotic in my food choices... there is enough locally to satisfy me... sometimes not local enough (Tommy's!!!).

You are now my unofficial OCD bro.  I too do not ever drop brown in public, my throne at home is my sanctuary.  I don't even go out to the movies,I get grossed out by the hair oil seat cushion.  If I do go, I wear a hoodie.  I actually have this idea of bringing a movie towel to drape over the head rest so the back of my head is not in direct contact with the never washed but often abused seat back cushion.

I was still bitter about the disappointing 626 night market.. went out and got my own night market food

taiwanese sausage with basil and satay, not bad, but still wished the sausage was more fire grilled, need the charcoal taste

I don?t think the group selling fake LV and Burberry bags from the white van parked on a side street were event approved vendors.
