approximately 3:00 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to a robbery call at East West Bank inside 99 Ranch Market at 5402 Walnut Avenue.
A male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and demanded cash. Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect was in possession of a firearm during the robbery, but it was not fired and no one was injured.
The suspect is described as male, Caucasian, age 40s, wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, grey converse shoes, and a white fedora-style hat.
IPD is investigating this case in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Banks near freeway entrances are popular targets for criminals. BoA at Quail Hill and the one near Mitsuwa are good examples.

Geez we shopped there all the time too.  Maybe we should change to the one in Culver since it's a bit far away from freeway  :o
