Just heard about this, what horrible news. I'm a huge baseball fan, and while I love the Dodgers, the Angels have always been my 2nd favorite. I was watching the game on TV last night, and he did really well. Between this and the fan getting killed in a fight on Opening Day, its a tough time for the organization.

This is really sad. It is especially sad to see this happen to such a class organization such as the Angels. But I suppose because they are an organization with such great character that it will help pull them through.

The guy who ran the red light was 22 years old, was driving under the influence, and fled the scene after causing the crash.

So now he's charged with DUI, manslaughter, and felony hit and run. And he deserves every one of those charges.

Sad to hear about any deaths related to DUI, especially with someone who had so much potential in the major leagues.

If he was DUI, then it will be 3 counts of 2nd degree murder. 9 years a pop. See ya in 30 years buddy....nice work.

Not only was he DUI, but he was driving with a suspended license due to a previous DUI. 30 years is not long enough, in my opinion. I vote death penalty.

Gallo was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving, felony hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter. Police said they may also pursue homicide charges.

Hospital tests indicated that Gallo had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08, Hamilton said, although he declined to give specific details.

Gallo was driving on a suspended license after a previous drunken-driving conviction, Hamilton said. Court records from Riverside County indicate that he was also convicted in 2005 of driving without a license.

KNX reported that the driver was pulled over 2-3 times while driving with a suspended license. On one of those occasions, he was cited for possession of marijuana and later blew off his court date. It's unacceptable that he wasn't thrown in jail. I'd like to see this high profile incident result in more stringent CA DUI laws. I'd volunteer on the weekends to build support for reformation. I don't know anything about the effectiveness of ignition breathalyzer, but I'd like to see the mandatory deployment of them in OC for all DUI offenders, first-time and otherwise.

I'm also a baseball fanatic, and the Angels are my team. It's heartbreaking to watch the game, see him do so well, and then wake up to find out that he lost his life.

The victims were way too young and full of promises in their future. Avoid driving after midnight because statistic has shown the drunks are out between 12am-3am when the bartenders kicks them out after closing or leaving a party.

I have known Garret Anderson for 4 years. I designed his home. My heart goes out to him, his team mates and the victims family in this terrible tragedy that hit so close to home.
