What's the skinny on Anaheim Hills? Every time I fly into SNA and peer out the window I see beautiful homes and wonder how it compares to other OC suburbs.

How does it compare in terms of school district, pricing, resident characteristics, etc.?

equal number of persians in AH and Irvine...

Canyon is a good highschool, off of Canon/Imperial and Santa Ana Canyon. 92808 is the better zipcode in AH.

Based on my preliminary look at schools, I'd stay north of Canyon Rim and away from the 91 and 241 freeways.

My cousin and former supervisor lives in Anaheim Hills. Aside from their homes almost getting burned down twice a year (every year), it''s a nice area to raise your family. Pricing is definitely cheaper compared to Irvine.

Remember to keep filter masks handy because the the annual fires tend to leave a lot of ashes behind.

there was a huge landslide in Anaheim Hills a few years back, and about 300 homes are still affected because they are included in the landslide zone (which means they have to pay a monthly fee to a city to maintain and stabilize the hills they are on or something like that). I don't live there, so I'll defer to the residents for more info on that.

here is the link with more info on that: http://anaheim-landslide.com/

Anaheim Hills is beautiful, but it is still too pricey for the commute most people would need to endure from there. But if the commute is not an issue, there are some beautiful neighborhoods with killer views. Serrano Heights in Orange HIlls is also similar to AH, but with even better views, IMO.

I lived in Anaheim Hills for about 6 years and loved it. I moved to Irvine due to the commute. The 55 does not move . It would take me about 45 minutes due to traffic. I loved AH and would move back in a second if it was not for the commute. You do go through alot of breaks on your car due to the hill.

Wendy,

The commute is 45 min. from AH to Irvine? Gosh, imagine if someone lives out in Carona. I know someone that drives from Perris to Irvine. Nuts.

Seriously, I don't know how people handle the commute. I was told it took him 3 hours to get to work. How can someone drive for 3 hours one way? I get cranky just driving 15 minutes to my office.

Well, at least when they get home to Perris and Rancho Cucamonga they don't have to worry about the neighbors making lots of noise and distrubing their precious little sleep --- because all the neighbors have been foreclosed on!

We have a guy at work (in Irvine) that commutes from Adelanto, 84 freakin' miles! It's so far away I'd never heard of it and found out it's up the 15 and north of Hesperia.

This still doesn't beat two Guys I used to work with who commuted to Long Beach from Palmdale, 91 miles each way.

But wait, I'm not done yet...I was listening to a chat show one night and the subject was "Commutes from Hell" The Winner (If you could call Him that) drove from Studio City to San Diego (and back) every Day!! How many miles is THAT!!?? He obviously loved His Apartment and His Job.

peralta hills is sort of like woodsy version shady canyon. entirely custom estates except without building restrictions. some of the homes in that neighborhood are the most amazing i've seen anywhere in oc. this is where the old money built their custom huge estates in the 80s and early 90s before the glorification of the so-called california riviera.

i grew up in north oc and still lived there for quite a while before moving to irvine. the commute all the way down to newport ctr was actually not bad (although i'm always on the road before 8). maybe 20-25 minutes, but constantly moving. i took santiago canyon over to jamboree. most of that is just like a highway anyways. plus theres the option of the toll road which is only 75 cents on that route, although a bit more (but even faster) if you connect from the 91. quite honestly there are some days it takes me longer getting back to woodbury through the service streets of irvine.

for that reason i would totally consider north tustin, orange hills, vp, and as far as anah hills in a heartbeat when the S.O. and i are done with the convenience of irvine and looking for bigger and better housing.

i was going to let everyone know but that i'm speaking with john mcmonigle about buying that lake villa he's building in newport coast.

but i'm sure you all would have called me out on it, so the truth is... i'm not dealing with him directly, but one of his associates. [embarrased]
