Anyone checking these out?

Probably just going to watch one of the Irvine shows.

Nice weather today... how is it in Johns Creek?

Looks like it'll be raining there today IHO... :'(. But atleast they have um..

Happy Fourth All!

@Lacy Park enjoying the festivities, maybe Irvine should hold its celebrations at a park (maybe Mason?), Irvine HS is too small and rather expensive.

After some thought, we decided to attend a fireworks show at a great venue. Front row seats. VIP parking. I'm kind of friends with the pyrotechnics guy. We watched fireworks at House of SoCal.

Funky Monkey and King of Bling! We perched these two kinds on top of a ladder. Flowers and sparklers. The Funky Monkey is my favorite. Well worth the money. The further down the fuse it burns, the more intense it gets. It has a growing fountain effect. It's time like these I'm thankful for having a spacious enough yard. A lot of fun out of a cheap $50 drive to Santa Ana.

It's really too bad this was the last 4th at the Irvine amphitheater. I was *thisclose* to buying tickets for their show. I had them in my cart and then decided to check Yelp. Ugh. After that, I said forget it. Maybe in a few years when the boys are old enough to not mind the half mile walk uphill from the car or are able to wait in a long line for the bathroom. But now I learn there will be no "next time". Toobadsosad.

Socal - are fireworks legal in FHR?  i love fireworks and almost drove over to costa mesa to buy some, i was just going to pull over in some random costa mesa neighborhood and light them but my wife convinced me otherwise (she doesnt care for them).

Good!! I didn't buy fire insurance  :D

there are sprinklers throughout and the fire station around the block should be ready in a couple of months so they can get here in two minutes if your house catches on fire  :D

Heck, no, man.

They're only legal in 7 O.C. cities:http://www.ocregister.com/articles/legal-361075-tips-cities.html

Complete CA list:http://ca-fireworks.presskit247.com/content/content-article.asp?ArticleID=508

Mrs. Qwerty really doesn't like fireworks??? I love fireworks. The louder the better. I'd buy the launching kind if I could get my hands on them here in CA. Fourth of July isn't complete until you reek of smoke. SoCal is as American as apple pie.

Qwerty, when you have kids, at least get them some sparklers. Childhood memories they'll have forever!

when i was young we lived by the mexico border so for every 4th we would go buy bottle rockets, roman candles, firecrackers, etc. our town was small and we were on the outskirts so cops werent an issue, if they did catch you they would just confiscate the stuff and that was it.

not sure what local cops would do here if they catch you lighting "safe/sane" fireworks in a city where they are not allowed - anyone know someone who has been caught?

Good question. I, too, would be interested in knowing the fine. That OC Register link I posted only gives the fines for illegal fireworks - meaning not "Safe and Sane" but doesn't say anything about Safe & Sane in cities where they aren't allowed. I've searched online but can't find it.

Quite a few people in our neighborhood do them. Our backyard is very private. Only 1 neighbor can possibly see in from their upper level, through mature trees. That neighbor seems to enjoy the free show. Neighbor on the other side did their own fireworks in their backyard. We could hear but couldn't see. With ours, we had a hose nearby and a bucket just in case. I'd be good risking a potential fine of up to maybe $1,000. It would be worth it. More than that, possibly not worth it but still maybe.
