I've been to the SF/Bay Area many, many times and don't see the great appeal of wanting to live there. It's too cold and foggy way too often plus traffic is 10x worse than the traffic in OC.freedomcm said:hah, The OC "vibrant"?!
I picked SF, but having lived in both, but for a long period in NYC, I would really pick Manhattan if it was one of the choices.

bones said:Just curious, what is this list based on? Weird that Jersey City makes it (not vibrant, btw), but it's more "vibrant" counterpart, Hoboken, doesn't? Also, places like Richmond, Cincinnati, but not any of the Texas cities or the aforementioned Atlanta? Nothing beats Manhattan so I settled for the 2nd best thing... Brooklyn.

NYC is a terrible place to live IMO...especially with a family. Bad weather, expensive, and crowded. Houses are usually old and/or insanely expensive.

Well the question was "vibrant lifestyle", not "where to raise your young kids". Plus Manhattan is a great place to raise a family if you have money for a great apartment and a driver. Those are the two main hurdles.
