I'm a fan of Chicago and Miami. Would spend 3/4s of the year in Miami. I've been to miami a couple of times, once for a bachelor party. Before Miami I thought Vegas had the best selection of women, Miami does.

I really think Orange County (or even San Diego) should be on this poll.

The best weather of any of the cities listed, not as dense as LA but close enough for LA's "nightlife". OC has a great family atmosphere, and while not the best in transportation choices, there is enough to get you to the places you need to go.

And although I don't think qwermacho should be considering any selection of women, Southern Cali can compete with Miami in that department.

hah, The OC "vibrant"?!

I picked SF, but having lived in both, but for a long period in NYC, I would really pick Manhattan if it was one of the choices.

I've been to the SF/Bay Area many, many times and don't see the great appeal of wanting to live there.  It's too cold and foggy way too often plus traffic is 10x worse than the traffic in OC.

San Francisco can be foggy and cold but there are plenty of areas near SF that is really nice and more temperate.  Traffic is not even close to being as bad as OC/LA.  Not to mention, they have a usable public transit alternative in BART.

For me, the choices would be:

1)  SF/Bay Area
2)  OC/LA
3)  Portland
4)  Las Vegas
5)  Chicago

I loved Chicago when I visited but the weather is a killer.  Portland is great but the schools are not so good.  Vegas can be extremely hot but has a good Asian community and pretty low RE prices.

Just curious, what is this list based on?  Weird that Jersey City makes it (not vibrant, btw), but it's more "vibrant" counterpart, Hoboken, doesn't?  Also, places like Richmond, Cincinnati, but not any of the Texas cities or the aforementioned Atlanta?  Nothing beats Manhattan so I settled for the 2nd best thing... Brooklyn.

NYC is a terrible place to live IMO...especially with a family.  Bad weather, expensive, and crowded.  Houses are usually old and/or insanely expensive.

Well the question was "vibrant lifestyle", not "where to raise your young kids".  Plus Manhattan is a great place to raise a family if you have money for a great apartment and a driver.  Those are the two main hurdles.

Well...since I'm not a 0.1%...it's a terrible place IMO.  Beside, most of the 0.1% live in Long Island or Connecticut.
