I say if your in college, that is a bit high. Just find a reasonable priced place and commute.
 
Frankly, that's just shoddy reporting.  It's what happens when you analyse numbers with no interpretation of the underlying reality.

Looking at US colleges with enrollment above 15,000, they analyzed the median rent within a two-mile radius of campus and compared it to the metro area's market-rate rent.

So we compare turtle ridge, turtle rock and maybe a bit around fashion island with greater Santa Ana metro...
