    'Wokeness' in IUSD and TUSD?

I have young children and Kindergarten isn't too far off for us. We're starting to evaluate schools and have heard the horror stories (in our opinion) of elementary-aged kids being indoctrinated with the "woke" agenda. These stories are in the press and come from other areas of the country - but...

The Counter has closed in Woodbury Town Center. There is already a sign on the window indicating that CAVA will be going into that spot.

    all American asphalt

Looks like Gateway Village will be on the open farmland at the corner of Portola and Jeffrey. Relatively flat but some homes will most likely be adjacent to the landfill access road...

How high will mortgage rates climb in the next 36 months?

Better is offering a 1-day loan commitment: https://better.com/b/one-day-mortgage I know there are some mortgage brokers that can secure conditional approval in 24-48 hours...but it's pretty cool that Better is doing this on their all-digital / self-service platform. 2 years ago, I did a refi...

The market is buzzing again. Definitely hearing more multiple offer situations and homes going into contract for significantly over asking.

I also thought the Cerritos location wasn't that great. China Garden off Jeffrey still does the job for me. Their dinner is good too - lobster, peking duck, etc for decent pricing.

Solar Panel Batteries & Additional Panel Installation

2020 was the best time to get solar. I did the 4kW system with Tesla too and it was $7,800 before any tax credits. The only problem is now I have a Model X so I should've gotten the 8kW system.

    ICE or EV?

Interesting. Do you need a powerwall for this? What are the cost savings? I typically charge after 9pm...but maybe it makes sense to reduce the 10-20A during the day. We're home anyway...

    Housing Analysis

This is what a lot of the doomsday predictors don't realize. If we're just talking Irvine, the majority of homeowners are locked in all-time low interest rates and also have equity. Even if you bought in early 2022, you have a very good interest rate and maybe your home value has come down but...

Kaju Soft Tofu (the one in Garden Grove and Buena Park) is opening soon in Irvine. They have really good tofu soup. Sugarfish is opening near Fashion Island later in 2023.

Would you be able to post a pdf of the price sheets? I'd like to see it and it's also good to be able to come back to this thread years later and see what the initial phases of projects are selling for.

    Work in office or remote?

I think you call it out correctly that it's important to use collaboration tools to the fullest. Some people just aren't good at it. I will often times get replies back..."I've been in meetings all day, sorry I'm just getting back to you now." Makes you wonder...

    What is reasonable here?

To be honest, I don't find it unethical to ask for market rate from a current tenant in non-rent control scenarios. Of course, there are benefits to keeping a long-term tenant but it all comes down to dollars and cents. If your landlord can get $4,500/mo on the open market, and you're willing to...

    Work in office or remote?

Training and development, especially for new employees, is incredibly difficult in a fully remote environment. If I join a new company, there's no one I can tap on the shoulder and ask about an issue. Usually, nothing to do with actual technical knowledge - but more so with newbie-type...

    Work in office or remote?

I work for a major tech company and a few of my general observations: During the pandemic, there was a huge focus on wellness. Companies prioritized this. Lots of "how do you feel?" conversations and random wellness benefits like extra money towards childcare, tons of $$$ on WFH office setups...
