Solar Panel Batteries & Additional Panel Installation

Tesla has stopped taking orders for Powerwall, its home battery pack, if it is not linked to a new solar panel project. https://electrek.co/2021/03/15/tesla-stops-taking-orders-powerwall-without-solar-panels/ For those who want the Powerwall, it looks like Tesla solar panels / roof tiles will...

    COVID-19 Vaccine Questions

The Soka University site in Aliso Viejo is much better run than the Anaheim sites. This is from both personal experience and many co-workers. At the Soka site, they never check for your professional license. Only driver's license to verify the appointment. So technically, one can pretend to...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

I already did. It's through options. There are many ways you can structure your options to mimic a 5x leverage. The simplest one would be to can buy a levered ETF and buy naked call options on top. All of which can be done without any risk beside the initial investment.

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

Hey Mety, you're absolutely right. There's no right or wrong. We're just debating pros and cons and discussing the rationales behind each. IMO, there's no "dumb take" except those who tried to get an internet dunk but failed. (hint see above)  ;)

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

Is it? You obviously do not know about options trading. I actually discuss this in another thread with USC too. He said to use margins and I said options trading is the superior option in part because of what you said. Edited to include the quote and link to the other discussion thread...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

USC, we had similar but more in-depth discussion on this in another thread already.  Nobody is going to dispute that a home is a place to live first. Not sure why this keep getting parroted. Is anyone actually disputing this notion? And here's another shocker - renting and owning both...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

Agree with much of what's already being said about the positives about buying a home. I took the plunge myself too. My point really was that the home buying discussion on TI tends to only focus on the RE market as if it's isolated in a vacuum. Not what the RE market is doing relative to other...

    Pool installation?

I don't know if Pentair cover both parts and labor. We bought Jandy equipment through the pool builder. We have both the manufacturer warranty with Jandy and the pool builder offered extended warranty including a 10 year free labor to fix any issue. Are you planning to heat your pool year...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

The point is if you invested properly, in 5-10 years, you could afford the same home regardless whether the home price went up or down. When we bought our home in 2016, a coworker of mine almost followed. His family loved the layout and the builder had a cancellation & offered a discount. But...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

IMO that's what people should avoid doing - Pulling the trigger on a big investment, not because of conviction but to avoid getting paralysis by analysis - is most likely a terrible financial decision. But, I agree this is commonly seen. Real life is more complicated and I fully agree buying...

Observations from the front lines of the Irvine housing market?

My opinion is probably going to be very unpopular on TI. But I very much disagree with the popular notion that it's hard to time the market so don't. It's such a defeatist attitude and frankly why would you apply that kind of attitude to one of the largest investment you're going to make ...

    COVID-19 Vaccine Questions

FYI, March 9th appointments at the Anaheim convention center already has the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as an available option.

    Pool installation?

We did 5 years ago with Swan Pools. It was a good experience. Structure your agreement to break the payment into 4/5 installments. Only pay after each phase is completed and passed inspection. This is your biggest leverage to get your construction done without delay. Don't be afraid to withhold...

An Asian American family in O.C. was being harassed. Now their neighbors stand g

Really sad and unfortunate. Just saw on the news that crimes against Asian Americans are up 850% year over year in New York. Heard lots of stories of anti Asian hate crimes up in NCal as well. COVID has brought out the worst in some people. And from personal experience Being Asian in...

    Tesla Model Y

They should both still have the $7500 fed tax credit. But both are 1st generation. Personally, I'd avoid owning any 1st generation tech / car.

    How soon until Bitcoin crashes?

I use Coinbase for my cryptos. Coinbase is about to go public and they have 40 million + verified users. I currently hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, and Chainlink. Truly believe crypto is going mainstream.

    Congress Elections

Isn't it heartbreaking when one Texas resident had to travel over 1700 miles to find heat, water, and electricity?  ;D

    Request for realtor review

Maybe you missed it because my post was long, but as I indicated in my above post, it was an investment property we paid cash for. We were not under pressure to sell it quickly. It was early 2016 so yes, it was a RE bull market. The last 2 times we've had to sell our primary home to upgrade...

    Request for realtor review

A friend of mine used Cindy in 2019 to sell a home in Irvine. He said the transaction was done smoothly and professionally. Although he almost never dealt with Cindy directly after signing up, it was another agent working for Cindy. I've always felt using the stats (% of listing closing & the...

    Mortgage Forbearance

Agree that money printing isn't going to solve the potential housing crisis. Or any crisis frankly - if we keep funneling majority of the money printed towards big corporations and institutions. We've been following the the top down / trickle down economics for too long and it doesn't work for...
