Add wood paneling/shiplap to a wall?

Add wood paneling/shiplap to a wall, any recommendations for a company that would do this?  Or guesses as to how much it would cost?  I realize people can probably do this themselves, but in our case we have a fireplace and two windows that require some cutting, it's not just as simple as...

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

I think between my requirements (open floor plan, downstairs bedroom or office) + my wifes (separate dining room + at least 12 ft setback in the backyard) finding the right house in the right neighborhood was hard to do, so I'm glad I looked at BR even though I was initially only looking in...

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

Think it really depends on lifestyle.  With a little kid having lots of park options and pools is fantastic, that is definitely a 'must have' for me and a lot of families.  I have some friends without kids who never use community pools or whatnot so they probably wouldn't even notice.

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

Yeah but the largest floorplans in Meadows are nicer than the large summit floorplans in Baker Ranch.  5 bedrooms + an office is certaily the dream.  And I only have one kid haha.  As for Irvine vs Baker Ranch, I was able to get a ~4500 sq ft lot, 3 years old,  and almost 2900 for 1.2 last...

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

I moved from Irvine to Lake Forest, I have a Terraces home in Baker Ranch.  We really love it, my wife was initially concerned about being 'far from things' but it turns out it's about 8-10 minutes down to the Spectrum or Costco.  There's also the nearby shopping center in Foothill Ranch, not...

Pricing on Highland at Portola Springs

I didn't end up getting a new development, but Highlands was the only one I seriously considered, even better if you got a decent lot.  I really think this is the hidden gem of Irvine right now.

    How much cash vs. investment?

Eh the only person here who has any idea of who I am is Martin and he already has my SSN and saw most of my financial info already  ;D Good point, nothing is certain.  I just wanted to guage if I was less conservative or more so in terms of liquid funds.

    How much cash vs. investment?

I think Martin means you invest all the cash but *not* trade on margin, then if you need cash you withdraw while trading on margin, that shouldn't cost 8% right?

    How much cash vs. investment?

I'm curious how much you guys/gals carry in cash in checking/savings (relative to your overall stash or general income). For a long time I always kept ~100k or so in plain ol' cash (stupid, i know) because I had variable income due to contract work and that seemd like a magic comfort number. ...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

Why did they put the pool on the sideyard....oh.

    Fresco @ Eastwood Village

100% with you.  It's a nice neighborhood in a vacuum but it's not in a vacuum it's on Irvine Blvd by a very old mobile home park.  I'd pick the houses further south in Portola Springs over Eastwood.

    Fresco @ Eastwood Village

holy SHIT, with landscaping and upgrades you're talking a 1.8M house (or more!).  I get that Irvine is desirable, but definitely look at what you can get for 1.8 in Tustin Ranch or Foothill Ranch/Baker Ranch.  Geez.

Is the el toro plume still a cause for concern?

You guys can't be serious about EastWood village or as I like to call it Trailer Park Neighbor village.  Driving down Irvine Blvd is so weird with Fancy Eastwood Village on one side and then the uh, less nice neighborhood right on the other side...

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

I think it's way better to buy an existing Toll Brothers house in Baker Ranch.  Inventory is becoming more plentiful and you don't have to worry about all the extra crap like landscaping and upgrades.  Remember, Toll Brothers isn't Lennar, if you see a model you like, add 200k to the sticker...

    Running power in my backyard

I already have a pipe (is that what you mean by 'Trench the line') that runs power throughout my yard, I just don't have any outlet access anywhere.  All along where my plants are on the perimeter are wired lights, but no way for me to plug in something else.

The Meadows, Lake Forest by Toll Brothers

The Greak Parks and Altair aren't near the freeway at all either, arguably even more inconvenient to get to the freeway from Altair.  In off hours it takes me about 8 minutes to get to the 5/405 interchange from Baker Ranch if I take Alton.

    Running power in my backyard

I want some more power outlets in my yard, without having to redo the entire thing right now.  Can I generally just hire an electrician to do it?  There are some built in lights scattered throughout, but no actual outlets.

Barcelona Irvine Spectrum vs Lago Orchard Hills

I was looking for places around that price point for a while, until I recently bought in Lake Forest, using USCTrojanCPA as my agent!  Let me suggest you take a look at Portola Springs homes, you can definitely get more for your money there square footage wise.  It's a nice area as well, quiet...

Where the market is - Buyer Offers

Rent a room.  It's a lot easier to find roommates when you're in your 20s than in your 30s, so take advantage of this stage of your life to get some freedom and still save a boatload of money.  Remember if you move into a new place you need to buy TV, furniture, kitchen stuff, could be  another...
