M4 Macbook Airs

These were just announced and will be available next Wed.

They have the new M4 chips, a better camera and start with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
The 13" starts at $999 ($899 via Apple Education)
The 15" starts at $1199 ($1099 via Apple Education)

I think these prices are actually $100 less than the previous gen Macbook Airs. That's nice to see

$100 less with double the DRAM is nice, the 256GB SSD has to go now...

IMO the base model M4 Mac Mini is decent deal at $599. I'd buy it and attach larger external storage to it, and if the internal SSD dies it's now user upgradable.


The MacBooks are nice, but for the price of a M4 MacBook I can buy 4 Dell Inspiron 15's. Couldn't really justify the higher cost.

Very cool to see these 3rd party options for upgrading the internal SSD in the M4 Mac Mini! Here's another vendor I came across (2TB for $270):

I traded in my m2 air for the m4 air. Mainly because of the ram bump and $100 off base price.

I'm still using my m1 Mac Mini, sitting on top of USB hub & SSD enclosure box. The external SSD works fine for storage and you have the benefit of choosing a preferred brand.

For the M4 iMac internal SSD upgrade kit, there are many online resellers but like iboffrcc.com guys posting the brand of the SSD chips they use.

There was an issue with Western Digital/Sandisk SSD data loss couple years ago:

I assume the issue has been resolved since. But for my dentist who needed an external SSD, I recommend Seagate with Rescue Data Recovery Services under warranty period.
