How one blue state's bitter fight with Chevron could hike gas prices for 27 million drivers

Behind the Oil Industry’s Biggest Divorce: Chevron Versus California

If Chevron follows through, it could close two of California’s largest oil refineries - potentially driving gas prices even higher as it cuts supply there.

The Golden State already have consistently higher gas prices than any state but Hawaii.

The company's decision will depend on whether California introduces any further environmental or other regulations, Andy Walz of Chevron told the Journal.

Maybe "consistently" is the key word here, because I just bought gas at Costco in Hawaii 2 days ago for $4.00 a gallon, and my local Costco in CA is selling it for $4.05. Anytime I hear someone complain about the cost of living in Hawaii, I know they've never lived in CA.

My daughter is studying in London for the next several months and she is “stunned” at how much cheaper it is there…in London!!!😡😡😡…we are truly the dumb frog in the slowly boiling pot🤦🏽‍♂️👎🏽

Cheaper in London?!?
If you haven’t been recently, London has changed quite a bit. Makes California look good 🤣

They are still going to be in Baldwin Park right? Why are they leaving Irvine? Priced out by TIC? Doesn’t the owner live in Shady? Is she moving to Nashville or has she already?
Rumor is TIC wouldn't renew their lease and is opening a Hot Pot in their HQ location.

Kidding. I think it's tax breaks.

Baldwin Park will remain (no Hot Pots there).

I knew In-N-Out location would be in Franklin, Tennessee. The city is very affluent like Irvine and there is a very strong Christian community there. I believe that In-N-Out owners are also a Christian Business Owners. I was suprised to see Chick Fil A there next to In-N-Out in my last visit to Irvine. Chick Fil A owners are also Christian Company based in Atlanta.

The fast-food restaurant is building its “Eastern Territory” office in Franklin, a suburb of Nashville. It is slated to open in 2026.

Probably cheaper if you are exchanging USD -> GBP due to the strong USD. But might feel different if you are paid in GBP and live there.

So much money has been made in Nashville RE - a true boomtown the last 20 yrs

Lynsi Snyder sold her home in Bradbury but probably still lives near Baldwin Park area. Her main office has always been Baldwin Park and not Irvine.

Her Uncle, Rich Snyder, was the one who worked out Irvine since he lived in Newport Beach.

I've posted for some time on a NorCal forum similar to TI. The participants laughed at me when I suggested buying rental property in Nashville back in 2021-2022.

Sure, Bay Area property values went up, but the base buy in price was $1.5M and climbing. Investing that same $1 5m into 6-7 SFR 's in Nashville would have yielded more income at about the same appreciation rate as the Bay Area.

I'd rather have 6-7 homes worth a total of $3m paying $12k monthly rent in a landlord friendly state than one $3m home paying $8k rent in San Jose.

20/20 hindsight is a beotch.

Suprisingly, Franklin, TN is hub for many successful Christian Entrepeneurs. You guys know Dave Ramsey right? Financial Peace University. He lives in Franklin, TN. Michael Hyatt also lives there. Franklin, TN is like the Irvine of Tennessee with good schools, low crime, and 4000 sqft homes. The median household income in Franklin, TN is $124,755 and the median home price is $583,089. That area is a major hub for Successful Christian Businessman. Probably the reason why In-and-Out is moving their headquarters there from Irvine.

Curious what being Christian has to do with business? Is this really a thing or just virtue signaling to other Christians? I am a business person, never once has someone’s religion been important to me. In fact in most workplaces it is frowned on to discuss religion because so many people have different views.

Isn’t the whole south religious in general?? If you pick a city, I think any city is going to be considered religious. Perhaps not Christian but something else.
