NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
Honestly, Lakers got 2 solid rotational players plus a perfect 3rd option in DLO, and cost less in draft capital (1 less 1st round pick, and the one traded is lightly protected), and get to keep Christie/Reeves. I think it is a better deal at the end because a big 3 of Lebron, AD and Kyrie, one of them have to take a backseat (See Love/Bosh), and Kyrie is a head case he may not play 100% or can become a huge distraction.

Nets however, should've taken the Clippers deal for more picks/younger talent for Kyrie.
Yeah, I like this deal better. Hopefully, it works out as with these 3 players.

They got rid of TB...got Mo Bamba and lost PatBev. I'm sure salaries had to match, would have rather have kept him and got rid of Lonnie + someone else?

I don't like the TB trade. He's been really good filling in for AD and given AD's injury history, the Lakers should have kept TB.

It was reported TB does not like reduced playing time and he has outplayed his contract and the Lakers cannot retain him on the off season. Mo Bamba shoots 3 with higher volume and could be a good replacement.

I've been a Laker fan all my life and watch almost every game. I was just as shocked as everyone else to hear the news.
  • This trade doesn't make the team better this season. In fact, it may make us worse as we give up rim protection and perimeter defense. I am not sure how Luka and Lebron can coexist in the short term, as both are ball-dominant.
  • The Lakers were smart to make the deal. Lebron and AD are aging and Luka gives you a superstar for the next 8-10 years.
  • I didn't like giving up Max Christie, but one could argue that we sold high on him. Keeping Knect, Reaves, and the remaining first-round pick allows some additional flexibility to add a big man.
  • Hopefully, this trade serves as motivation for Luka to take better care of his body and clean up his game on the defensive side. He essentially loses $100+ million as he's no longer Super Max eligible.

Crazy trade. I get it for the post Lebron era but not sure why Dallas would do it unless they see enough in Kyrie+AD.

Going to be interesting to see what kind of offense Lakers will run and if they will have any defense.

Rumors are the Mavs are concerned about Luka's fitness as well. He's like 270 lbs. It's also likely that the Mavs think that Kyrie+AD+Klay give them a better chance.

Now the Lakers just need to ship LeBron to the Warriors. 😂

Wouldn’t be surprised if they try to shop Reaves for a big next.
