After a pinhole copper pipe leak that triggered a big water damage claim for the breakfast nook in our kitchen I am having the repipe done, and a Halo water system installed due to the chemicals used by all the OC water districts that create the buildup that compromises the copper. Was blown away when a friend told me he already experienced this in his 2002 Standard Pacific Talega home. Ours was built in 86 so I get that but 2002 was shocking. Bottom line is copper is a time bomb. Anyone else done the full Pex repipe?
 
We got quotes from a few vendors.

We ended up doing a partial resleeve for the affected area but will eventually repipe.

If we did repipe it would be PEX. I think the quotes ranged over $10k.

We paid $11.5k. and the Halo is another $5K. I would do it now as any copper piping is a time bomb and the plumbers said Irvine Ranch WD has the worst quality due to the chemicals used. Also helps with insurance renewal and rates. I’m so glad I did it.
