BBQ Beef Ribs / Brisket

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I'm not a western BBQ expert but I assume you've tried all these places in Irvine:

Famous Dave's
Lucille's
Wood Ranch

Of those 3, I actually like Wood Ranch but Spectrum parking is bleh.

I wasn't too impressed by Famous Dave's but I think USC likes it.

And I've been to Phil's in San Diego and have no idea why the line was so long.

Does Chili's have beef ribs?

The best around....

Newport/Naples Rib Company, founded in 1984, is family-owned and operated by the Ursini family. The original location was located on Newport Blvd and was founded by patriarch Fran Ursini. Naples Rib Company, located in the Belmont Shores area of Long Beach, acquired in 1992 was the 2nd Rib Company location. After the 55 freeway was extended into Costa Mesa in 1999, Newport Rib Company purchased the property at its current location on Harbor Blvd. Today, Fran's sons John and Dave Ursini operate the restaurants with the assistance of their sister Laura.

Newport/Naples Rib Company prides itself on not only being a premier spot for great BBQ, but a place where locals meet to share stories of the neighborhood and out of town visitors come to sample the rich history of delicious BBQ in a setting that is warm and inviting. We value community involvement and dedicate ourselves to giving back to the community that has been so good to us over the years

Tulsa Rib company in Orange is an old favorite.  But quality can be hit or miss.

For Brisket I loved Rudy's BBQ.  Now if they would only expand further out West...

Bringing this back up

Smoke Queen in Garden Grove has great brisket
Heritage BBQ in SJC is pretty good, long lines, should pre-order if possible
Smoking Ribs in Garden Grove - haven't been in a while, but remember it was good when I was drunk

There's a new place that I found on Instagram that has good BBQ, including Beef Ribs. JW Hayes BBQ in Newport Beach which is in a liquor store right off the 73. They are only open on Saturdays and beats going down to SJC for Heritage BBQ.

My friends recently tried a new place in Garden Grove called Smoke Queen BBQ and said it was really good. It's a traditional BBQ place, but they have an Asian twist on some of their dishes. They also have a beef brisket panang curry which sounds interesting.

I have Smoke Queen named in my list...before she had a brick and mortar she used to do pop ups...been getting her stuff for awhile now.

I went to Smoke Queen BBQ on Sunday, the only day when their big beef bones are avail.

First let me warn you, 3 beef ribs is $135. We easily spent close to $200. The quality of the beef ribs and pork bbq was good, the beef ribs had a lot of meat (not stingy), the sides are decent, and the place is pretty nice. There's parking on both sides, so if one lot is full, circle around.

Is the price worth it? Uh, it's kinda expensive. But if you have kids, it's a great place to take them. There's a nice playground out back with a lot of things for kids to do. Other small businesses will be opening in the same lot. They even have a community garden next door.

The seating is mostly patio or outdoors, so bring a hat. If you're from Malaysia/Singapore and miss kaya toast, they have... Kaya bread pudding (!).
